George Bush and the Iraq War - Down on Downing Street
You, the reader, should be aware of my affluence of love for literature in all its forms, for instance: the novel, the novella, the short story, the poem, and the comic strip - which, in its own right, is a literary and creative milestone tantamount in importance to Shakespeare. However, without doubt, one of my favorite genres of literature is: the memo.

President Bush Questions Saudi Ability to Raise Oil Supply, According to TheOilDrum.com
In an ABC Nightline interview, President Bush recently said of Saudi Arabia, "If they don't have a lot of additional oil to put on the market, it is hard to ask somebody to do something they may not be able to do." According to TheOilDrum.com, this statement seems to indicate that George W. Bush, like many others, is skeptical of Saudi oil production claims. Forecasts of future world oil production by official organization like the IEA and the EIA assume OPEC can increase production by any desired amount; if OPEC's capability is limited, official production forecasts are optimistic because they are based on false assumptions.

Baton Rouge, LA (PRWEB) January 18, 2006 - When life happens to God’s children and for whatever reason they succumb to self-defeating methods of coping with life’s issues, it is good to know they have a safe, God-honoring place to turn. The need for the ministering spirit and uplifting relationships generated through the ministry of Celebrate Recovery (CR) is at an all time high. People are unsuccessfully trying to cope on their own and finding themselves at a loss for answers. CR provides a guiding light, encouragement, and the strength to develop a renewed hope. Everyone needs CR. From those with mild hang-ups to those with full-blown addictions, CR can help.
On Saturday, February 11, 2006, hundreds of influential folks will gather at Istrouma Baptist Church to hear John Baker, founder of Celebrate Recovery, explain how to implement a Celebrate Recovery program at their church. Fourteen years ago John Baker, a product of the program, and Rick Warren, minister of Saddleback Church in California and the author of the New York Times bestseller Purpose Driven Life, began the ministry with only 43 in attendance. Since then, over 300,000 people have been through the recovery process in over 3500 churches across the nation. Lives are being transformed, marriages are being saved, families are being reunited, and people are learning to live the exciting, purposeful life God intended. This really is a phenomenal program.
In praise of CR, at the White House Faith-Based and Community Initiative Conference President Bush said, “John Baker and I share something in common. We used to drink too much…our hearts changed, and then we quit. This is a tried-and-true formula. The problem is government is not good at changing hearts, but people like John Baker have been”. Beginning at 9:00 a.m. with worship and a powerful, personal testimony from John and his wife Cheryl, proving the effectiveness of the recovery process, leaders will learn how to build a Celebrate Recovery ministry from the ground up. By 4:30 p.m. you will know how to start your program, train leaders, structure fellowship events, reach out to the community, implement the curriculum, and create a God-exalting worship experience. John and Cheryl Baker graciously share their 14 years of experience to help you learn best practices and avoid pitfalls as you start your ministry. In addition to the seminar, registration, starting at 8:00 a.m., includes lunch and a morning and afternoon refreshment break. The February 11 summit is free for pastors and church leaders in the New Orleans and Lake Charles areas impacted by Hurricanes Katrina or Rita. For all others, if you register by February 3 the cost is $65 for individuals or $59 per person for groups of four or more. After February 3 the cost is $75 for individuals or $69 per person for groups of four or more. Walk-ins are welcome, but early registration is encouraged. To register, go to www.purposedriven.com or call Istrouma Baptist Church at 225-295-0775.
Our churches and communities are populated by people who are struggling with pain, shame, and addictions. This will be an exciting, purpose-filled day designed to help you reach out to them. You don’t want to miss it.
